Synthetic Surfaces
Synthetic Turf Coating (STC)
General Information: A synthetic turf pitch will normally be supplied with permanently inlaid play lines. The number of sports to be included and whether the lines are to be inlaid or painted on to the surface will be decided prior to construction. However, if additional lines are required for special events or changes in the sports being played, these can be painted onto the surface using proprietary line paint. Some of these are more effective than others and consultation with installers, suppliers and other users of synthetic turf pitches is recommended.
Life Expectancy: If the court is used in accordance with its intended purpose our Synthetic Turf Coat (STC) Marking Paint will give acceptable performance for a minimum of 6-9 Months. However, certain factors will influence the performance of the paint and may well result in premature wear. Some UK contractors and their customers are claiming in excess of 12 months.
Synthetic Turf Coating (STC): has proven to be a great success, useable on sand filled, sand dressed, rubber crumb and water based synthetic surfaces. Aerosols on average last only a few weeks. Another advantage of STC is that it may help extend the lifetime of the synthetic surface if all lines are marked rather than “cut in”. By doing this, there are fewer joins in the surface therefore reducing the risk of the surface shifting. More and more synthetic surface manufacturers seem keen to move away from “cut in” or “glued in” lines.
Colours available: White, Blue, Red and Yellow
NB: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: The Turf must be Dry, frost-free and clear of debris. Warning! All Synthetic surfaces can appear to be dry on top but could still be wet underneath. A simple indication would be to kneel on the surface to see if there is any dampness. If it is damp, we will not carry out any markings. On water based surfaces, the watering system must not be used within 1 week either side of marking. We will not apply any Coatings if there is a chance of precipitation within 12 hours of application. Brushing to expose the fibres of the surface maximising the contact area for the paint is recommended. The Ground and Air Temperature should be above 12°C during and for 12 Hours or more after application. The application conditions must be warm and dry with some breeze to assist drying. In these conditions the coating is typically touch dry within a couple of hours. Marking on surfaces with infill, such as sand or rubber crumb, may require longer drying times due to the Water retention of the infill material. Although drying performance will vary depending on the Weather conditions, it is recommended that the marked pitch is not used for 72 hours after application. Longevity of the coating will depend on the condition of the surface. Freshly installed surfaces are difficult to mark due to the layers of oils used in the carpet manufacture. After a period of use this oil layer is removed and more durable lines can be achieved.
